The details regarding the eligibility for academic qualifications, age limit, nationality, Puducherry residence quota / other state & UT quota, reservation, sponsored seats and part-time seats are included below.

Academic Qualification

Admission is based on the eligible degree qualification as given in the table below. The candidate should have passed in all subjects in the qualifying degree at the time of submission of application. The Cumulative Grade Point Average(CGPA) obtained in the qualifying degree fromfirst semester to final semester will be considered for merit ranking. For converting the awarded CGPA into equivalent marks, the procedure indicated in the mark sheet by the awarding university will be followed. In the absence of such detail, the procedure laid by PGAC will be followed. In case of MCA / M.Sc candidates applying for eligible M.Tech programme(s), the CGPA secured in respective MCA / M.Sc degree will be considered.

The eligible qualifications for each of the Postgraduate programme offered in the institutions are given below: Applicants are requested to carefully go through the list and ensure that their qualifying degree and specialization are eligible to apply before submitting the application.

M.Tech (Master of Technology)

M.Tech in Structural Engineering (SE), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/ B.Tech in Civil Engineering/Civil and Structural Engineering through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks( 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examinations.

M.Tech. in Data Science(DS), PTU  - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E. / B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology or MCA through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examinations. 

M.Tech. in Electrical Drives and Control (EDC), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E./ B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering through the regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering (EE), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/ B.Tech. in Civil / Chemical/Environmental Engineering through the regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution  (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination. This programme is offered by Department of Civil Engineering. .

M.Tech. in Product Design and Manufacturing (PDM), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/B.Tech. in Mechanical/ Production/ Manufacturing/ Automobile/ Mechatronics/ Aeronautical/ Metallurgy/ Plastic Engineering through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

M.Tech. in Wireless Communication (WC), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  , RGCET (Full Time)

M.Tech. in Information Security (IS), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E. / B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering / Bio-Informatics or MCA through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution  (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

M.Tech. in Internet Of Things (IOT), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/ B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology /Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Bio-Medical Engineering / Instrumentation and Control Engineering / Mechatronics / Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in IoT and Cyber Security including Block Chain Technology / Artificial intelligence and Data Science/Computer and Communication Engineering through the regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

M.Tech. in Instrumentation Engineering (IE), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/ B.Tech. in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Control Engineering/Medical Electronics/Biomedical Engineering/Biomedical Instrumentation through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering (CHE), PTU - Full Time & Part Time  

B.E/ B.Tech. in Chemical or Appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology in Chemical/ Biochemical/ Biotechnology/ Petroleum/ Petrochemical/ Electrochemical/ Pharmaceutical/Food Technology/ Polymer/ Energy and Environmental Engineering or any other allied disciplines of Chemical Engineering /Technology or equivalent from a recognized university or Authority accepted by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examinations. 

M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), RGCET, MVIT, SMVEC

B.E/ B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology and any other branch equivalent to the above, through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution  (or) M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology/ Software Engineering (or) MCA through regular course of study with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology or equivalent Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronics / Applied Sciences or an examination of any University or authority accepted by the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks in the degree examination or equivalent CGPA. Candidates belonging to SC/ST who have a mere pass in the qualifying examination are eligible. 

M.Tech. in VLSI and Embedded Systems (VES), SMVEC

B.E. /B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering /Instrumentation Technology/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering and any other branch equivalent to the above, through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or authority accepted by the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks in the degree examination or equivalent CGPA. M.Tech - Computer Science and Engineering (Big Data Analytics), (SMVEC)

B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology/Electronics and Communication Engineering and any other branch equivalent to the above, through regular course of study from an AICTE approved Institution (or) M.Sc. in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Software Engineering (or) M.C.A. through regular course of study with Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Applications/Information Technology (or) Equivalent Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronics / Applied Sciences (or) an examination of any University or authority accepted by the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks in the degree examination or equivalent CGPA.   M.Tech - Manufacturing Engineering(SMVEC)

 M.Tech –Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (SMVEC)

B.E. / B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology/Electronics and Communication Engineering and any other branch equivalent to the above, through regular course of study from an AICTE approved Institution (or) M.Sc. in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Software Engineering (or) M.C.A. through regular course of study with Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Applications/Information Technology (or) Equivalent Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronics / Applied Sciences (or) an examination of any University or authority accepted by the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks in the degree examination or equivalent CGPA. Candidates belonging to SC/ST who have a mere pass in the qualifying examination are eligible.

Master of Business Administration (MBA), SMVEC, MVIT, RGCET, RAAK, CCET, CIT, SVCET

Passed Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority approved by the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examinations. 

 Master of Computer Applications (MCA), PTU, SMVEC, MVIT, CCET, RGCET, PJPCE

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications / Computer Science/Information Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Corporate Secretary ship / Economics/ Business Administration with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications as one of the subjects (or) Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects with a minimum of 50% marks. (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category). 

M.Sc. in Material Science & Technology , PTU

Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics as main subject and Chemistry and Mathematics as ancillaries. (or) Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Chemistry as main subject and Physics and Mathematics as ancillaries. (or) Bachelor’s Degree in Science - Applied Science (or) Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as major subjects (or) B.Sc. Electronics with Physics and Mathematics as ancillaries (or) B.Sc. Ceramics Technology (or) B.Sc. Polymer Technology (or) Any degree of equivalence like STEM (degree in Physical Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with a minimum of 55% marks (a mere pass in the qualifying examination, in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in major (Part-III) and minor (Part-II) subjects or equivalent CGPA 

AGE LIMIT

There is no upper age limit for admission to M.Tech., MCA, M.Sc., and MBA Programme.

NATIONALITY CRITERIA

A candidate seeking admission through PGAC should be an Indian National. However, French Nationals residing in the UT of Puducherry, and covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian Nationals, for the purpose of admission to all the courses.
